CUTOUTS: The "IT" STYLE OF 2023

So, I have a confession. I'm a huge fan of showing a little bit of skin in a tasteful way. Gimme an off the shoulder top or a tasteful cutout, any day. I always admired some of the styles of the 70’s so I was super happy to see that the off the shoulder styles and cutouts have never retired! As a stylist, I find that many of my clients think this style is intimidating, but I am here to tell you, it can be fun and liberating to give a little shoulder and take it back. (Haha, get it?)
One of my favorite pieces in my own collection is this flare sleeve, flare leg jumpsuit I have. I love it so much that I got it in two colors. Here it is in red:
A timeless Iconic Look
Remember waaaaay back to the year 2000, when Jennifer Lopez wore that super sexy deep cut green Versace cutout dress to the Grammy Awards? Or even better, when she wore an updated version of the dress in the 2020 Versace Spring collection fashion show? Well, both times were iconic. Now we know all of us cannot be JLO but we all can wear the cutout style in our own way.

Some people think that the style is too sexy or unflattering but the opposite is true. There are so many ways to wear cutouts, from, grunge, to chill lounge wear and it can definitely be chic and sophisticated. So much so, that you can even wear it to work!
Some of my Plus size and Curvy clients thought they could never wear the look but when I pulled some pieces for them, and styled their outfit, they realized they could tastefully and comfortably wear cutouts and look great doing it!
